do you have an aftermarket wastegate? at what rpm range do you go WOT?

no it doesnt flutter during normal driving.. i guess i go wot at like 6-7 ive never really kept track. wastegate is stock. could it bad?

 

How/why do you go WOT at 6 or 7 thousand rpms (especially 7k considering your rev limiter is at ~6250 lol)?

 

6-7? hundred? thousand rpm??? well you shouldnt be going WOT under 3000 rpm or you will get compressor surge i.e. flutter (turbo being the size it is spools up really quick and sends air through to the engine faster then what the computer can handle, so the air is shot back out of the engine and back to the turbo trying to spin the turbine backwards while the air getting sucked in is still trying to spin the turbine the right way, this causes that flutter noise which is bad for turbo and engine)
and if you have an aftermarket intake it will be heard more than it would with the stock plastic intake

Now that doesn't sound normal, do a boost leak test, if u don't find anything, try spraying some water at the intake manifold where the gasket is in-between im and engine, and yes it could be a bad wastegate, try swapping it out with a friends

On a stock turbo with a aftermarket heavy spring wastegate actuator off pcm control.

With a stock wastegate, stage 2, or fm on PCM control, you can go wot before 3K.

 

ok ill try that out, to my other question what should i be replacing at 100k, already did valve cover gasket, exhaust mani gasket as well a few months ago

 

timing belt. oil pump, water pump, struts, bushings

What kind of BOV do you have? Some HKS' have a tendency to flutter. I know mine does but I have the v1 and I just adjusted it.

Im having the same prob I have an ported turbo with ported exh mani and a gm waste gate with an hallman bc and rfl bov. I did a boost leak test and nothing so what else coulf it be thats causing,the flutter

 

The fact you are using a FM wastegate with a boost controller.

 

everythings stock, no controller

My MBC us to make my boost flutter for second.

 

Mine is doing it when I floor it so gonna try to go to pcm controller boost but gonna mess with the boost by rpm on the dsp

 

That what I did, I'm on PCM boost now. You won't have to mess with boost by rpm. Your on the stock turbo. In 3000 RPM I spike to 18-19 hold to 16 @ 6000 RPM

 

Mine was doing the same thing. I corrected it by adjusting the boost via the DSP.

 

Mine is doing the same thing as well. Waiting for dsp and then I can fix it

check all vaccum lines.. my green line recently just popped on me.. i was boost almost 15psi at 2.5K rpm...
