I dont know if anyone has addressed this, but is there a way to change the horn. i love everything about my car except the gay A$$ horn. It is weird being in a sporty car with a roadrunner horn or maybe that is the point. MEEP MEEP! Thanks.

I'm supposed to be writing a functionalist perspective analysis on the bumper sticker, "Under Republicans, man exploits man. Under Democrats, it's just the opposite", for my Soc. final tomorrow. Bleahhhh.... :stab:  :stab:

That's what they make salvage yards and auto parts stores for.

You can take a horn from just about anything. May I suggest something from a truck or big ass sedan. In fact, with a little basic electrical snip and clip, you can mount two or more horns.

Swapping horns is usually a 1 or 2 bolt operation. Unplug the old horn, unbolt it, bolt on the new one, plug it in. It ain't rocket science -- because even I can do it.

The scientist at Dodge have most likley done hours of study on the human and have found that the pitch they have set the horn to is the most annoying.

Kinda like scratching finger nails on a chalkboard.

It gets the attention of others because it sounds so weird which might work in our favor in some road situations.

well that may be true but think of it this way when you are sleeping at a light.. which may never happenen, but a big ass truck horn will make you go much faster than a little gay horn

Leave the stock horn in place because it's such a PITA to get to. Cut the wires, go out and buy a set of hi/lo Fiamm Freeway Blasters (about $25), some L-shaped brackets from the hardware store, mount them on a couple of the right side FMIC bolts with the horns pointing down, and splice the wires into the stock ones. End result is nice and LOUD...

Have you done this? I was looking at the Fiamm horns and was wondering how much louder they would be. Worth the trouble?

It's not hard to remove, you just have to remove the bumper to get it but you have to remove the bumper anyways to mount the new one anyways. It's right next to the washer bottle on the passenger side of the car, FYI.

"...just have to remove the bumper..." That's not hard?! It's a hell of a lot easier to just cut the wires and leave the stock horn where it is. There's only one, and it sure doesn't weigh much, so just leave it where it is and don't bother trying to remove it. I've also heard that in order to get to the stock horn you have to remove the right side headlight. Either way, that's way too much effort to remove the stock horn...

And yes I've installed these Fiamm horns, not only on my SRT-4, but on my motorcycle, and several other cars I've owned (SW2 and 2 LW300 Saturn wagons, Mazda truck, etc). If I remember correctly, the Freeway Blasters are rated at 125-130db, which is much louder than the stock horns on just about anything except a big rig!

To install the dual Fiamms, all you need to remove is that flat panel underneath the very front part of the car (5-6 bolts). Once that's out of the way, you'll have a clear shot at everything to mount these horns. I'd highly suggest jacking up the right front part of the car, because there's not a whole lot of room to move around under there otherwise.

As I mentioned, the horns will run about $25 for the pair, and you'll need some L-shaped brackets that fit the horn mounting posts and the bolts on the FMIC that they'll attach to, and some solderless connectors. All these things should be readily available at a local auto parts and hardware store.

Good luck!

One of the guys I roll around with as an Italian racing horn from Autozone, it's easy to put on, get's your attention, and funny

You don't have to remove the bumper, only the passenger side headlight. I just looked and removed mine, because something was causing it to rattle/raspy/vibrate when I would push the horn. Can't seem to figure it out. May need to replace it...
